There are workshops, speakers, de-stressers, and other fun activities throughout the week. We encourage you to participate as you have the capacity to– Remember to “unplug”, spend time outside & take care of yourself!
All BMC Community Members are welcome to participate!

TODAY, Friday, April 15th
- 10:00 – 12:00 AM: STEM DIY De-Stress Session @ Park Science

- 3:00 – 4:00 PM: Self-Advocacy Workshop – Part 3: Self-Advocacy Outside the Bryn Mawr Community
- Facilitated by: Emily Overholt, Graduate Student Intern at the Health & Wellness Center

- Join the Health and Wellness Center for the third part in our workshop series about self-advocacy, Self-Advocacy outside of the Bryn Mawr Community. Talking to your peers, professors, employers and even family about your needs and how to get them met. - Description: Are you curious about mindfulness but unsure how to start? Do you have experience with mindfulness, but struggle with consistency? No matter where you are on your journey, it can help to have a group of fellow travelers. Join peers and counseling center staff for a new meditation group. Open to all levels of experience. Each group will have opportunities for collective practice, reflection, and learning.

- Location: In front of the Wellness Building (The Well)
- Description: Join us for a WEW Pop up! Learn about the concept of “flow”~a gold standard technique discovered by the co-founder of positive psychology to increase creativity, productivity, and decrease general anxiety backed by clinical science! Stop by to learn, and if you partake in a 5 minute activity you win a goodie bag!
- 4:00 – 5:30 PM: Nature Mindfulness Walk
- Facilitated by: Tessa Eisen, Peer Health & Wellness Educator (PHWE)
- Location: Haverford Nature Trail, meet by BMC Blue Bus stop at 4:00 PM to take the 4:05 PM bus to Haverford and take the 5:25 PM bus back to BMC
- Description: We will be going on a walk on Haverford’s nature trails, and using mindfulness techniques, focusing some parts on being aware of the senses, like smell and sight, then focusing on the body and increased awareness. We plan to take the Blue Bus to get there and back. There are no qualifications/training, but this event may not be accessible to students with mobility aids, as the trails are not paved.
Tuesday, April 12th
- 2:00 – 3:00 PM: Tech Tips for Wellness
- 2:30 – 3:30 PM: Destress Yoga with Ava
- Facilitated by: Ava Smith, Peer Health & Wellness Educator (PHWE)
- Location: Senior Row
- Description: Join Ava for an all level’s yoga and mindfulness class to destress! Ava will guide participants through a 60 minute yoga and mindfulness class dedicated to soothing the nervous system and relaxing the mind.
- 5:15 – 6:15 PM: Financial Health- Finance literacy and tips for college students!
- Facilitated by: Ani Dixit & Venus Villon, SGA Health & Wellness Center Advisory Board
- Location: Dorothy Vernon Room, New Dorm Dining Hall
- Description: Topics include savings, investments, interest, stress management related to finances, and useful tips for realistic budgeting and money allocation. This is meant to give a basic, no background knowledge of finances necessary. We are gearing this to be accessible and useful for everyone, particularly FGLI and low-income students.
- 7:00 – 8:00 PM: Anti-Procrastination Workshop!
- Facilitated by: Katherine McNamara & Tessa Eisen, Peer Health & Wellness Educators (PHWE)
- Location: Conference Room, “The Well” / Health & Wellness Center
- Description: We will start with anti-procrastination tips and tricks and then an explanation of the Pomodoro Method. We will complete one cycle of pomodoro sequence with snacks as a reward for studying.
- 7:00 – 7:45 PM: Basic First Aid: How to Handle Common Emergency Medical Situations in College
- Facilitated by: Ani Dixit & Wendy Qu, Certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) & SGA Health & Wellness Center Advisory Board (HCAB)
- Location: Park 245
- Description: Led by two active EMTs from Narberth x BMCEMS, we will be going through what do to in common emergency situations and dangerously intoxicated friends, what to look for before calling campus safety and explaining what happens after that call, and general life-saving tips. There will be a lecture, Q&A, and case study.
Wednesday, April 13th

- Learn the importance of naming individual social identities and how they influence the interactions of mental health professionals;
- Learn how cultural trauma, oppression, and privilege are attached to different social identities;
- Recognize that social identities intersect and therefore affect each other and outcomes within the therapeutic forum;
- Recognize the need to prepare mental health professionals who acknowledge different voices and experiences;
- Understand the differences and similarities of identities and their impact on therapeutic approaches.

Description: Mood Management is a three part workshop intended to increase your understanding of emotions and develop strategies to help you cope when your emotions become distressing and hard to tolerate. These strategies can help individuals cope with depression, navigate relationship problems, cope with stress and anxiety, and improve self-esteem. While we suggest that students interested in this series attend all 3 meetings, students are permitted to come to individual sessions without enrolling in the series as a whole.

- Description: Although mindfulness practices are an important coping strategy for many, mindfulness practices can cause distress or even exacerbate feelings of anxiety in some individuals who are coping with trauma. This presentation will explain the aspects of mindfulness that can be shifted to accommodate anyone who struggles with the sensation of tuning into their body or sitting still, and will explore some alternative mindfulness practices. CW: Discussion of the after-effects of various traumatic experiences, including physical and sexual harm; these discussions will not be graphic, but will merely mention reasons why certain mindfulness practices may be difficult for survivors.

- Description: MangoTree is a counseling service composed of Asian/Asian American mental health professionals and advocates who seek to improve the mental health of our communities through connection, mobilization, and compassion. The workshop will be focusing on diving into the difficulties of discussing mental health with Asian/Asian American families and the role of family dynamics in the matter. - Description: The goal of the workshop is to provide an opportunity for people to reflect and write at their own pace, so there will be minimal intervention from us and we will not cover any specific topics. This journaling “workshop” will provide prompts/questions in different categories (e.g. academic goal setting, gratitude, personal growth). We will put the prompts pertaining to one category in each box and spread out the boxes. The idea is that people will be sitting closer to people reflecting on the same category and can share what they wrote if they want!

- Description: Come and make sachets of lavender and other scents that help promote better sleep! This event aims to encourage conversation about sleep wellness and spread awareness about how important it is to recharge your body and mind.
